And we have done it in style, with a touch of daring, thanks to the exclusive piece that Jacob Vilató has created for the cover. A piece that was conceived and brought to life for those of us that share and love the Sotogrande way of life, either because we live here, come for shorter stays or simply grasp the essence of the place. Vilató has managed to convey it without artifices: the light, calm, nature and that peculiar way of engaging with the environment, all of it distilled into the figure of a woman who embraces, protects and brings together everything that defines Sotogrande. He has done it in his own language: bold lines, delicate brush strokes and a use of colour that, without trying to hide it, reveals that “Picassian” echo running through his DNA. Creators, restorers, winemakers and cultural entrepreneurs join us in these pages. People with talent, character and sensitivity who are promoting projects capable of bringing back to the present-day a heritage that deserves to stay with us. This is the case of Portocarrero Palace, whichwe were lucky enough to visit with Cristina Ybarra, the driving force behind a refurbishment project that has given an essential piece of its history back to Andalusia. We are reminded that “preservation and evolution are not different paths” by Helena Rivera, now in charge of Bodegas Tradición, a place brimming with history, art and fine wine. We visit the incredible studio of the potter Laura de Lorenzo, while Jesús Moraime, the landscape designer and historian, shares with us his understanding that gardens are a reflection of culture: a space where architecture, history and nature cross paths.We speak toMaríaLi Bao, thewoman that has transformed our views on Chinese cuisine, taking Asian gastronomy to a new level while maintaining its tradition and authenticity.
