Se cultiva sobre arena húmeda y salina, muy cerca del mar, aprovechando la humedad del subsuelo y la influencia de las mareas. Esa interacción entre mar y tierra, que ofrece la desembocadura del Guadalquivir, da lugar a un suelo rico en minerales y a productos de sabor inconfundible. El Navazo is a traditional agricultural system that is only found on the coast around Sanlúcar de Barrameda. Crops are cultivated close to the sea in damp, salty sand, making the most of moisture in the subsoil and the influence of the tides.
