Nos esperaba una transición que nos llevaría desde el desierto a la jungla. Además, nos encontraríamos con la dificultad añadida de tener que circular en plena época de lluvias. LaregióndelFerlo, enel corazóndeSenegal, esuna importante zona pastoral en la que los pozos son los auténticos puntos de vida. Es una tierra semidesértica con periodos de gran sequía y de fuertes lluvias. Las lluvias están a punto de comenzar, un verdadero regalo para los pastores peul que, durante meses, han visto como muchas de sus cabezas de ganado se han quedado en los huesos o han muerto por culpa de la falta de pasto. El Ferlo hay que recorrerlo sin prisa, con tiempo para experimentar y vivir situaciones junto a la población local. Observar la vida en torno a un pozo o entrar en la choza de alguna aldea peul, es una garantía de satisfacción y vivencia muy diferente a las recibidas en una sociedad occidental. The rains that are about to begin are a real gift for the Peul herders, who have spent several months seeing their cattle turning to skin and bones, or dying as a result of the lack of pasture. We have to pass through the Ferlo region at a leisurely pace, with time to experience situations together with the local population. Watching life go by around a well or going into a hut in one of the Peul villages is guaranteed to provide satisfaction and experiences that differ greatly from those found in western society.
