Recoge tierras salvajes de distintos sitios —el Etna, Marruecos, Tarifa— que después mezcla y clasifica en su taller. “Me gusta pensar que cada tierra que recojo representa un fragmento de tiempo y lugar, en el que encapsulo una emoción que contiene memoria.” Con ellas crea sus propios esmaltes y paletas, que varían según la temperatura o la composición. También experimenta con otros materiales como el metal o el vidrio, creando piezas híbridas que trascienden los límites de la cerámica. Laura reconoce que su relación con el barro es tan visceral como técnica. “Trabajo desde la emoción, que a menudo me lleva al error y ahí suelo encontrar belleza. Cuando me permito fluir afloran ideas, formas y texturas.” Quizás por eso sus piezas son únicas, porque combinan técnica, azar y experimentación. Hoy, Laura de Lorenzo se ha consolidado como una de las nuevas voces de la cerámica madrileña. Su obra combina oficio y sensibilidad, y su espacio, A Cielo Abierto, se ha convertido en un refugio urbano donde la materia se transforma en expresión. These include wild regions from different places — Etna, Morrocco, Tarifa— that she then mixes up and classifies inherworkshop. “I like to think that every region I incorporate represents a fragment of time and place where I enclose an emotion imbued with a memory.” She creates her own glazes and palettes, which vary according to the temperature or composition. She also tries out other materials such as metal or glass, creating hybrid pieces that push the boundaries of pottery. Laura admits that her relationship with clay is as emotional as it is technical. “My work comes from feelings, which often lead to mistakes, and that’s where I find beauty. When I go with the flow, ideas, shapes and textures come to life.” That might be why her pieces are unique, the result of technique, chance and experimentation. Today, Laura de Lorenzo has established herself as one of the leading voices on the Madrid pottery scene.
