In this issue of Ke Sotogrande Magazine, we benefit from the expert insight of Willy Pérez, the oenologist from Jerez de la Frontera. With a passion for wine and a tireless champion of his Andalusian homeland, Willy has managed to blend tradition and innovation like few others. Son of the esteemed professor Luis Pérez, he launched his career at his father’s eponymous bodega, where he took a chance on still red and white wines in a region traditionally focusing on sherry. Later, together with Ramiro Ibañez, he founded Bodegas de La Riva, reviving old vineyards, forgotten skills and autochtonous grapes such as Tintilla de Rota, and playing a part in the resurgence of unfortified table wines from Jerez. From terroir-driven Fino to singular reds and whites, their wines are the essence of the Marco de Jerez, offering a modern twist that has won over both critics and new generations. Willy makes wines that connect the past to both the present and future. @willyperezv Willy Pérez, enólogo y bodeguero con alma jerezana Willy Pérez, winemaker and vintner with a Jerez soul
