70 ENTREVISTA Vuestra filosofía está definida por “la buena prenda”. ¿Con qué tejidos os gusta más trabajar? El tejido es la materia, es importantísimo, podría decir que es casi la materia viva con la que trabajamos. Hay que escuchar al tejido, hay que oírlo, qué te dice, cómo se mueve, qué caída tiene. Nos encantan los buenos tejidos y además los tejidos clásicos de toda la vida. Tecnológicamente el mundo del tejido ha avanzado muchísimo y ahora se hacen unas mezclas increíbles, pero básicamente nos gustan que sean buenos, con buenas caídas, que tengan personalidad. Los clásicos como la seda, las organzas, el gazar, los tules, el satén, el terciopelo, las buenas lanas, el mohair, es decir, los clásicos de la alta costura. Ahora hay mucho mundo de tejidos ecológicos, sostenibles y también nos gustan y los defendemos. En vuestras colecciones sorprende mucho la mezcla de colores, muy elegantes y a la vez disruptivas. Y esto quizás os pasa también con la influencia de vuestra ciudad, que tenéis un toque andaluz, que sehuele, pero sincaer enestereotipos. Es cierto que básicamente no tenemos un estilo andaluz, no somos nada locales en ese sentido. Pero sí que es verdad que, por genética, porque somos andaluces y vivimos aquí, sí que tenemos ese giro, que no sé cómo calificarlo, que puede denotar que venimos del sur, pero de esa forma no tan aflamencada y tan tópica. Sin darte cuenta hay sur. Es muy bonito escucharte hablar de una profesión que se nota que te gusta mucho y estáis en un entorno muy favorable, como es la ciudad de Sevilla. Sevilla es un placer, nosotros tenemos el estudio cerca de la Plaza del Museo. Es un barrio muy bonito, elegante, muy sevillano y castizo. Estamos al lado del museo de Bellas Artes y el camino de mi casa al taller lo hago a pie, es un camino que paramí es un alimento porque es un paseo precioso. Además, ver cómo va cambiando la plaza con sus árboles según las estaciones, su luz, el cielo. Es algo que vivo mucho y que me parece súper bonito. Por supuesto, el resto de la ciudad es maravillosa. Your philosophy is defined by “quality garments”. Which fabrics do you like working with most? The fabric is the substance, it’s very important. We could say it’s like the living material that we work with. You have to listen to what the fabric says to you, how it moves, its drape. We love good fabrics and also classic fabrics that have been around forever. Great technological advances have been made in fabrics and you can now get incredible mixtures, but we basically like them to be of good quality, with a good drape, and to have character; in other words, haute couture classics like silk, organza, gazar, tulle, satin, velvet, fine wool, mohair. These days, there are quite a lot of organic and sustainable fabrics that we also like and support. The mix of colours catch the eye in your collections, very elegant but ground-breaking. And maybe this is also the influence of your city, that hint of Andalusia, but avoiding stereotypes. It’s true to say that, basically, we don’t have an Andalusian style, we don’t have a local influence. But it is also true that genetically, because we are from Andalusia and we live here, we have that twist that it is hard to put a finger on that may show that we’re from the south, but without the flamenco or typical touches. Without realising it, there’s something of the south. It's really nice to hear you talk about a profession that you obviously love, and you are in a conducive setting, namely the city of Seville. It’s a pleasure being in Seville. Our studio is near the Plaza del Museo. It’s a very nice, elegant and authentic neighbourhood of Seville. We are next to the Fine Arts Museum and I can get from home to the workshop on foot, a walk which nourishes the spirit because it is delightful. What's more, you can see how the square and the trees change with the seasons, the light and the sky. It’s an important part of my life and I thinks it’s really pretty. The rest of the city is wonderful too, of course.
