Esta valiente, curiosa y discreta jerezana es hoy una de las arquitectas de interiores de mayor reconocimiento. El sentido de la fluidez, la comodidad, la forma arquitectónica pura, su pasión por los materiales nobles y su visión estética, hace que no su estudio no pare. Actualmente se encuentran trabajando en numerosísimos proyectos por toda España, como el Edificio de losHermanos Bécquer conCarlos Lamela, Las Residencias del Mandarín Oriental con Bueso-Inchausti. Pero también tienen proyectos internacionales en República Dominicana, enLondres oNuevaYork. “Hace años que diversificamos las ubicaciones geográficas de nuestros proyectos y trabajamos con clientes de muchos rincones del mundo”. Belén Domecq creció en un palacio andaluz, rodeada de arte, elegancia y tradición, en un entorno cómodo que le permitió viajar y alimentar su intelectualidad y creatividad. Cuando tocaba asentarse en Jerez con su familia, ya era tarde. Su pasión por la estética y el diseño ya estaba inoculada en la futura interiorista y tuvo que compatibilizar estudios y trabajo. Fue la mano derecha del interiorista Pascua Ortega, que vio su gran potencial, hasta que se independizó y creó su propio estudio. Su relación con Sotogrande es desde los inicios del proyecto de McMicking; los Domecq fueron de las primeras familias que formaron parte del núcleo y del concepto de urbanización exclusiva unida al deporte y a los valores familiares. Recuerda que fue su familia quien trajo el polo a España y la tradición de los caballos de Jerez fue clave para unirlos a Sotogrande, “de hecho, la copa de polo más importante de los primeros 20 años de Sotogrande ha sido la Copa Domecq, que entregaba mi padre y mi tío”. Por eso, una de sus grandes ilusiones era tener una casa aquí, “y lo hemos conseguido con mucho cariño y esfuerzo”. Junto a su familia disfruta de la discreción de Sotogrande que mantiene esa cultura por las actividades deportivas y la naturaleza. BALANCING THE AVANT-GARDE AND MODERATION Belén Domecq’s professional footprint is also part of her character. This brave, inquisitive and discrete Jerez woman is one of the most widely renowned interior architects today. The sense of flow, comfort, pure architectural shape, her passion for noble materials and her aesthetic vision mean that the studio never stops. They are currently in the midst of numerous projects all around Spain, such as the Hermanos Bécquer Building with Carlos Lamela, or the Mandarin Oriental Residences with Bueso-Inchausti. But they also have international projects in the Dominican Republic, London or New York. “A few years ago, we began to extend the scope of our projects and we now work with clients from all over the world”. Belén Domecq grew up in an Andalusian palace, surrounded by art, elegance and tradition, in a financially comfortable environment that enabled her to travel and fuel her intellect and creativity. When it was time to settle down in Jerez with her family it was too late. The future interior designer was already infused with a passion for aesthetics and design, and had to combine studying with work. She was the right-hand woman of the interior designer Pascua Ortega, who saw she had great potential, until she struck out on her own and set up her own studio. Her relationship with Sotogrande dates back to its early days with McMicking; the Domecqs were among the first families to become part of the core concept of an exclusive residential development linked with sport and family values. She recalls that it was her family that brought polo to Spain, and Jerez’s history of horses was the key to linking them with Sotogrande, “indeed, the most important polo tournament in the first 20 years of Sotogrande was the Domecq Cup, presented by my father and uncle”. That is one of the reasons why she wanted to have a house here, “and we have achieved it through love and hard work”. Along with her family, she enjoys the discretion offered by Sotogrande, which upholds the culture of sporting activities and nature.
